Device Description
The Sorbact® Swab is a DACC™-coated, non-absorbent wound contact layer based on Sorbact® Technology. This technology binds common wound microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA), Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans. This prevents and treats wound infections, aiding in the reduction of bioburden, odor, and pain, while promoting wound healing.
Intended Use
Sorbact® Swab is intended for use in managing clean, contaminated, colonized, or infected exuding wounds. It is suitable for:
- Surgical Wounds
- Traumatic Wounds
- Pressure Ulcers
- Diabetic Foot Ulcers
- Leg Ulcers
The swab is ideal for use by healthcare professionals or under their supervision, in both healthcare facilities and home environments.
Clinical Benefits
- Reduces Bioburden: Binds harmful microorganisms to reduce the risk of infection.
- Promotes Healing: Helps decrease wound size and accelerates the healing process.
- Odor and Pain Reduction: Assists in minimizing wound odor and associated pain.
Warnings and Precautions
- Single Use Only: Reuse may lead to cross-contamination and increased infection risk.
- Do Not Use if Damaged: Do not use if the peel pouch is opened or damaged.
- Allergic Reactions: Not suitable for patients with known hypersensitivity to dialkylcarbamoyl chloride (DACC™) or cellulose acetate.
- Avoid Certain Products: Do not use with ointments, creams, or fatty products as they may interfere with the dressing’s binding ability.
- Use with Care: Avoid applying directly to bone, tendons, exposed blood vessels, organs, or nerves. Do not wrap around extremities as circulation may be compromised.
Instructions for Use
- Wound Preparation: Cleanse the wound and surrounding skin as per clinical practice.
- Dressing Selection: Choose the appropriate size. The dressing can overlap wound margins.

- Application: Ensure full contact with the wound surface. For deep wounds, unfold and fluff the dressing. Avoid dense packing.
- Secondary Dressing: Apply a suitable secondary dressing and fixate.

- Removal: If adhered, moisten the dressing before removal to avoid disrupting the healing wound.
